Jonathan Stillo is a doctorand in anthropology at the City University of New York Graduate Center, an adjunct lecturer at John Jay College and Writing Fellow at Baruch College. He has visited Romania many times since 2001 and received grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation, The U.S. Fulbright-Hays Commission, IREX, and the Romanian Cultural Institute to support his research in Romania on tuberculosis, citizenship and poverty. He recently published the chapter “The Romanian Tuberculosis Epidemic as a Symbol of Public Health” in the book Romania Under Basescu: Aspirations, Achievements, and Frustrations during His First Presidential Term (2011) edited by Ronald F. King and Paul E. Sum.
